I. Project Overview
In 2024, this project implemented epoxy asphalt pavement construction on S315, primarily for surface-layer paving and localized rut‑resistance reinforcement. The material was designed in accordance with the technical requirements for “Epoxy Asphalt Materials for Pavements” specified in the national standard GB/T 30598–2014, and exhibits high strength, excellent toughness, superior weather resistance, and outstanding rut‑resistance performance.
As of October 2025, this section of the road has been in service for more than one year. This follow-up visit aims to conduct an on-site assessment of its operational condition and performance.

Road-use epoxy asphalt possesses the following technical characteristics:
◾ High strength and high toughness: tensile strength ≥ 1.0 MPa, elongation at break ≥ 200%;
◾ Excellent thermal stability: softening point ≥ 80°C, heat deflection temperature ≤ −12°C;
◾ Excellent construction performance: retention time ≥ 240 minutes, facilitating paving and compaction;
◾ Excellent durability: Dynamic stability (at 60°C) ≥ 10,000 cycles/mm, with outstanding rutting resistance;
◾ Follow-up visit date: October 2025

1. Overall Pavement Condition
◾ The pavement surface is smooth, with no significant deformations such as rutting, shoving, or bulging.
◾ The surface texture is distinct, and the anti-slip performance remains excellent.
◾ No visible cracks, spalling, or localized damage.
2. Critical Performance Verification
◾ Rutting resistance: Particularly at traffic light intersections and in areas with heavy vehicle traffic, no significant rutting was observed.
◾ Bonding performance: Excellent interlayer adhesion, with no delamination or peeling.
◾ Durability: After withstanding year-round temperature fluctuations and the rainy season, the pavement maintains stable overall performance.
3. Environmental Adaptability
◾ Located in a rainy southern region, the pavement constructed with epoxy asphalt exhibits excellent water resistance and salt‑corrosion resistance.
◾ No water seepage and no signs of substrate water damage.

Conclusion:
During more than one year of field service on S315, the pavement‑grade epoxy asphalt has demonstrated outstanding overall performance, particularly excelling in rutting resistance, crack resistance, and durability—outstripping conventional asphalt materials. It meets the technical requirements for pavement‑grade epoxy asphalt specified in GB/T 30598–2014, thereby confirming its suitability and reliability for use on high‑grade highways and municipal roads.
Suggestion:
◾ It can be promoted for use on road sections with heavy traffic loads and complex environmental conditions.
◾ It is recommended to continue monitoring and observing during subsequent maintenance, with particular attention to long-term skid resistance and fatigue performance.
◾ Strengthen temperature and mix‑design control during construction to ensure full utilization of material properties.
